LOLER: Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998
This regulation states:
Every lifting appliance is required to have a 12 monthly examination by a surveyor engineer, issuing a statutory certificate. This regulation covers backhoe loader, both 180° and 360°, wheeled and tracked excavators, shovels, forklifts, grab/crane lorries plus all other equipment capable of lifting loads.
A competent independent engineer should carry out these examinations.
Periodic examinations of lifting equipment must be carried out at least every six months for both lifting accessories and personnel lifting equipment.
